South Korea tests indigenous solid-fuel rocket week after North’s ICBM launch

Seoul says test of ‘space projectile’ for launching satellites comes at ‘grave time’ due to DPRK military activities

South Korea successfully tested a domestically produced “solid-fuel space projectile” for the first time on Wednesday, the country’s defense ministry said, less than a week after North Korea launched a long-range ballistic missile for the first time in more than four years.

The Agency for Defense Development (ADD) led the test of the system that Seoul plans to use to put satellites into orbit, with defense minister Suh Wook present at the agency’s launch site.
