‘Hope alone is not a course of action’: US official gives parting words on DPRK

U.S. Ambassador Harry Harris is set to leave Seoul on Thursday and weighed in on diplomacy and U.S.-ROK military drills

America’s ambassador to South Korea is urging North Korea and the United States to continue talks, but said that leader Kim Jong Un missed his “opportunity” to make progress with President Donald Trump in recent years.

On Tuesday, outgoing Ambassador Harry Harris shared his final thoughts about the state of relations at the Korea-U.S. Alliance Forum. Harris, who began working as Washington’s ambassador to Seoul in 2018, is set to wrap up his assignment on Wednesday and depart South Korea the next day, the U.S. Embassy in Seoul told NK News.
