A United Nations agency tasked with addressing world hunger received an international sanctions exemption to ship agricultural machines and products to North Korea, the U.N. website shows, marking the fourth exemption granted this year.
The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) will have until May 6, 2023 to deliver goods “aimed at ensuring food security by strengthening the capacity of the agricultural sector to cope with natural disasters,” according to the U.N. Security Council’s 1718 Sanctions Committee that oversees the North Korea sanctions regime.
