Several stores in North Korea’s capital city restocked foreign food items and soft drinks after months of imported food shortages, informed sources told NK News on Tuesday. The return of these outside goods add further weight to recent rumors that North Korea is gradually reopening its borders to trade after months of isolation spurred by COVID-19.
Supermarket shelves were sparse since last October, but missing goods like chocolate, dried fruit, Coca-Cola and Chinese imports reappeared in some stores, according to sources. Dry staples like rice and flour were also seen, one source said.
