US congressman pushes for peace deal with North Korea on armistice anniversary

U.S. politicians said that peace is important for disarmament and regional stability

A U.S. Congressman from California spoke up in favor of a peace deal with North Korea, stating it would “incentivize Kim Jong Un to take actual steps towards denuclearization.”

Ro Khanna, who has represented California's 17th congressional district since 2017, spoke during a webinar commemorating the 67th anniversary of the Korean War Armistice on Monday. During his speech, Rep. Khanna said that extensive conversations with advisors to South Korean President Moon Jae-in convinced him that the U.S. must take initiative to end the Korean War.
