North Korea shines light on teacher protests in Seoul in bid to smear South

Experts say propaganda focusing on social unrest seeks to capitalize on Yoon’s unpopularity and paint ROK as backward

North Korean state media has slammed the South Korean government’s handling of the suicide of an elementary school teacher in a series of articles in recent weeks, condemning the ROK for poor teacher rights and labeling the Yoon administration “corrupt” and “incompetent.”

Experts said the coverage represents a propaganda campaign to spotlight social unrest and political turmoil in the South, in part to gloss over the sizable development gap between the two Koreas.
