North Korea fires long-range ballistic missile toward East Sea: Seoul

Launch is first since mid-June and follows DPRK criticism of alleged ‘intrusions’ by US spy planes off its east coast

North Korea fired one “long-range ballistic missile” toward the East Sea (Sea of Japan) on Wednesday morning, according to South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS).

The missile was launched on a lofted trajectory from the Pyongyang area at around 10 a.m. KST and flew for around 621 miles (1,000 km) before falling into the sea, JCS said.
