UNC says unclear when JSA tours will resume, weeks after Travis King crossing

Suspension is latest obstacle to normalizing tours of area on North Korean border, following yearslong COVID closure

It remains unclear when tourists will be able to visit the Joint Security Area (JSA) on the inter-Korean border again, the U.N. Command (UNC) told NK News on Monday, nearly three weeks after an American soldier dashed into North Korea during a tour of the sensitive area.

The extended suspension marks the latest stumbling block for JSA tours over the last four years, after outbreaks of swine flu and then COVID-19 led to long-term closures from mid-2019.
