ROK, US officials to visit site where North Korea abducted high schoolers

Seoul envoy announces trip amid efforts to draw attention to kidnappings and update UN human rights report

South Korea’s unification minister and a top U.S. human rights official will visit the site where North Korea once abducted high school students next month, as Seoul makes a push to draw attention to the DPRK’s past kidnapping of ROK nationals.

Lee Shin-wha, ROK special envoy on North Korean human rights, made the announcement about the planned trip at a forum in Seoul on Friday, which saw ROK officials and human rights experts call for increased international efforts for the return of the abductees.
