NGO says intrusive security measures mean few even know internet exists, calling access a basic human right

Most North Koreans have never heard of the internet, and even the small group of elites who can access the world wide web must submit to intrusive security measures ranging from fingerprint scanning to surveillance software, according to a new report.

Drawing on defector testimony, People for Successful Corean Reunification (PSCORE) documents how bureaucratic hurdles, hefty prices and other barriers make it all but impossible to get online from Pyongyang.
