Prosecutors raid unification ministry over suspected Moon-era wrongdoing

Investigation into hiring practices latest example of ROK presidents' ‘vindictive hounding’ of predecessors, expert says

South Korean prosecutors raided the unification ministry and a government foundation handling defector issues on Wednesday, the Seoul Eastern District Public Prosecutor’s Office told NK News, part of a series of raids into state agencies over alleged unfair hiring and employment practices under the former Moon Jae-in administration.

The seizures of evidence from the ministry and Korea Hana Foundation come two weeks after prosecutors raided the state spy agency as part of separate investigations into the forced repatriation of two North Koreans in 2019 and the DPRK’s killing of a ROK civil servant in 2020.
