US again designates North Korea as violator of religious freedoms

State Department has said ‘almost any religious activities’ are punished by execution, torture and abuse in the DPRK

The U.S. designated North Korea as a violator of religious freedom under the International Religious Freedom Act for the 21st consecutive time, the State Department announced on Wednesday.

In a statement released Wednesday, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to press all governments to “remedy shortcomings” in their laws and practices, calling for the international community’s urgent attention to the matter.
