The government of South Korea’s Gyeonggi province on Wednesday announced that it has sent KRW1.5 billion ($1.3 million) of flour and saplings to North Korea.

The supplies came in response to a request from the DPRK’s Consultative Council for National Reconciliation (CCNR), the province said in a written statement.

Gyeonggi will transfer 1615 tonnes of flour worth KRW1 billion ($837,450) to the DPRK’s South Pyongan Province over the course of this month, along with 110,000 saplings worth KRW500 million ($414,480) to be used towards reforestation in the country.
