A ship which left South Korea’s Pohang port on Wednesday afternoon has numerous connections to North Korea’s illicit shipping networks, including to another vessel sanctioned by the UN Security Council (UNSC) in its most recent resolution.
South Korea also issued new unilateral sanctions on March 8, preventing ships which have visited the DPRK within the last 180 days from entering the South’s ports, and targeting a list of ships North Korean ships known to use flags from different countries.
