North Korea launched a new solid-fuel “hypersonic” missile on Sunday, according to state media the following morning, in what appears to be the first successful test of the system.
The “intermediate-range hypersonic maneuverable controlled warhead” test was carried out to verify its “gliding and maneuvering characteristics” and the “reliability of newly developed multi-stage high-thrust solid-fuel engines,” the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.
