Donald Trump denies he plans to let North Korea keep nukes if reelected

Statement by former president follows report that he is open to offer sanctions relief if DPRK stops making bombs

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has denied that he would allow North Korea to keep its nuclear weapons if reelected next year, following a report that he is considering a plan to offer sanctions relief under an arms control deal.

Trump made the denial on Wednesday in response to a Politico article that said the former president is entertaining a plan “to let North Korea keep its nuclear weapons and offer its regime financial incentives to stop making new bombs,” citing three people “briefed on his thinking.”
