The U.N. committee tasked with sanctions implementation on North Korea should consider adjusting aspects of the sanctions regime, a forthcoming U.N. report seen by NK News says, to reduce the unintended impact of sanctions on the DPRK’s humanitarian situation.
This report marks the first time that sanctions investigators have suggested discussions on introducing permanent exceptions to trade controls on North Korea, though the Panel of Experts (PoE) proposal does not try to compel U.N. Security Council (UNCS) members to take any specific action.
