A capsized North Korean ferry captured in satellite imagery last year | Image: Google Earth (Feb. 1, 2022)
A North Korean ferry capsized near the Wonsan naval base on the country’s east coast in recent years and now appears beached and abandoned, according to NK News analysis of satellite imagery.
The approximately 38-meter-long vessel appeared in Google Earth satellite imagery floating close to the coastline in Sept. 2020. But more recent images show that the ship has since capsized and that a mound of sand or other aggregate has formed next to it.
