Pfizer offers to sell COVID vaccines and medicines to North Korea at low cost

American firm expands not-for-profit program to DPRK, but expert says Pyongyang unlikely to take up the offer

American pharmaceutical firm Pfizer will offer COVID-19 vaccines and other medications to North Korea on a not-for-profit basis, the company announced Tuesday, though Pyongyang has so far rejected even offers of free vaccines.

Under the program, the DPRK will be able to purchase Pfizer’s “full portfolio of medicines and vaccines” while paying only their production cost, according to the company. Pfizer says the program includes over 500 products, including chemotherapy drugs and a wide range of antibiotics.
