North Korea could open border city to foreign tourists this month: Tour agency

Firm predicts tours to Sinuiju to resume before capital, a move expert says may aim to test readiness for Chinese market

North Korea could allow foreign tourists to visit a city on the Chinese border as soon as the end of this month, according to a company specializing in DPRK tours, though non-Russian travelers will likely still be unable to visit Pyongyang.

Young Pioneer Tours (YPT) stated on Friday that Sinuiju could be the first part of North Korea to open to wider international tourism, citing recent talks with the China International Travel Service in Dandong, the Chinese border city across from Sinuiju.
