The U.S. and South Korea will soon conduct summertime military drills on a large scale for the first time in four years, Seoul’s defense minister said Friday, as the allies push to “normalize” the joint exercises focused on deterring a North Korean attack.
The drills, previously known as Combined Command Post Training, will now go by the name Ulchi Freedom Shield and will be held from Aug. 22 to Sept. 1, according to the ministry.
