North Korea says it’s testing workers who handle imported cargo for COVID-19

News follows huge increase in testing last month and January restart of train trade with China

North Korea is testing people who deal with imported cargo in border areas for COVID-19, the country has told the World Health Organization (WHO), the first time the DPRK has acknowledged that it's conducting such screenings since resuming train trade with China in January.

The WHO’s latest weekly situation report released Monday appeared to refer to workers at a large disinfection complex outside Sinuiju, near the Chinese border. NK Pro previously confirmed that the complex was processing cargo brought in by rail from China, after North Korea accepted a train loaded with imports on Jan. 17 for the first time in more than 17 months.
