South Korean city to make longshot proposal for ferry to North Korea

Hwaseong to suggest 14 cooperative projects with DPRK’s Haeju amid ongoing freeze in inter-Korean ties

The South Korean city of Hwaseong, about 26 miles south of Seoul, plans to propose a ferry connecting it with North Korea’s Haeju, as well as other forms of business cooperation with the provincial capital, in a longshot effort to achieve a breakthrough in stalled inter-Korean ties.

Lim Jong-seok, the Moon administration’s special adviser for foreign affairs, announced Hwaseong’s plan to cooperate with Haeju on fourteen projects in a Facebook post Sunday.
