Kim Jong Un raises ‘urgent’ issues of food supply, COVID and flooding

North Korean leader’s remarks at politburo meeting underscore litany of challenges country faces as a result of lockdown

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un called on officials nationwide to ensure a successful harvest this year, “reawaken” local anti-COVID measures and improve consumer goods production and flood prevention efforts, state media reported on Friday.

Kim made the orders at the third politburo meeting of 2021, held on Thursday in Pyongyang, according to the state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
