Kim Yo Jong slams US-South Korea joint drills, casts doubt on leader summit

North Korean leader's sister said hopes of utilizing newly-reconnected hotlines rest on canceling joint drills

Regular U.S.-South Korea joint military exercises should be canceled and a North-South leader-level summit remains unlikely in the short term, according to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's younger sister, Kim Yo Jong, in a statement released Sunday night.

Kim accused the Blue House of "inflating the significance" of last week's reconnection of hotlines between the two Koreas, calling their interpretation of the development "hasty."
