Regular U.S.-South Korea joint military exercises should be canceled and a North-South leader-level summit remains unlikely in the short term, according to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s younger sister, Kim Yo Jong, in a statement released Sunday night.

Kim accused the Blue House of “inflating the significance” of last week’s reconnection of hotlines between the two Koreas, calling their interpretation of the development “hasty.”

“Making hasty speculation and groundless interpretation will only lead to disappointment,” Kim said in the statement released by the Korean Central News Agency.
