North Korea says it tested a ‘newly developed’ missile to strengthen military

North Korea says the test helped its solid-fuel missile program and that the missiles "arrest" threats to the peninsula

North Korea said it tested a newly developed tactical missile a day after it launched two projectiles into the East Sea and caused concern among officials in Seoul, Tokyo and Washington.

On Friday, North Korean state media announced that top North Korean military official Ri Pyong Chol guided the launch of the "newly-developed tactical guided missiles" a day prior. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un reportedly did not attend the test-firing.
