The South Korean government on Thursday called on activist groups to stop sending balloons carrying anti-regime literature to North Korea, following a high-profile warning just hours earlier from Pyongyang that it could withdraw from several inter-Korean accords should the practice continue.

Speaking to press at a regular briefing, Ministry of Unification (MOU) spokesperson Yoh Sang-key appeared to respond to a statement earlier in the day by Kim Yo Jong — sister of the North Korean leader and an influential official in her own right
