A North Korean company has developed a new smartphone app to help users learn Chinese in their spare time, an externally-focused state media outlet reported on Thursday.

The language education apps, named “Chinese Vocabulary Study” 1 and 2, were reportedly recently developed by “Pyongyang Kyemyong Technology Development Company,” the DPRK Today website said.

It is aimed at both students and workers, the report said, teaching the 11,000 most-used Chinese words and offering tips on their pronunciation, a search function, and self-assessment quiz sections.
