North Korea returns to Korean Standard Time

Move reverses DPRK's 2015 decision to switch to Pyongyang Standard Time

North Korea on Friday at 2330 returned to Korean Standard Time (KST), bringing the two Koreas into the same time zone for the first time in close to three years.

The DPRK adopted so-called Pyongyang time on the August 15 Liberation Day holiday in 2015, at the time arguing that conventional Korean Standard Time was based on the longitude of Japan and thus not suitable for Korea.
