South Korea raises embassy alert levels over North Korea terrorism fears

Seoul cites intel about plans to harm diplomats, raising alert for missions in five countries with close ties to DPRK

Seoul has raised its terrorism alert level for five diplomatic missions overseas in response to reported North Korean threats against South Korean officials, the ROK foreign ministry announced on Thursday.

The South Korean government raised its readiness by two levels from “attention” to “alert” after intelligence authorities obtained information about attempts to harm diplomats, according to a ministry press release.
