North Korea criticizes Christmas tree near DMZ

Criticism may be calculated to isolate Park administration, says Pyongyang watcher

North Korean state media has again criticized plans to increase the height of a huge “electronic display board,” otherwise known as a Christmas tree, near the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) on Sunday.

North Korea has long criticized the tree as means of “psychological warfare” and annual lightings of the tree have been suspended in past years following inter-Korean agreements to halt propaganda tit-for-tat.
