North Korean state media has condemned ongoing large-scale military exercises by South Korea as practice for an invasion of the country.

South Korea’s Hoguk military drills, which began on Monday and are set to continue until November 21, involve more than 330,000 personnel from all branches of the South Korean military. The exercises are the largest of their kind since 1996.

The DPRK will “not tolerate an indiscriminate practice for invasion of the north” and would “mercilessly wipe out” South Korean military forces if they “even dare to fool with us,” a spokesman for the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification
