Three months after a Pyongyang building collapsed due to haphazard construction techniques, North Korean media have announced the development of a new concrete hardening acceleration agent.

The accelerating agent, which can simultaneously reduce concrete setting times while increasing building strength up to three times, has proven effective in dam and housing construction, a report published by state media outlet the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said on Thursday.

“(The agent) is applicable not only to spread concrete for underground and marine structures but also to concrete mixture for quick building operations,” said a Korean version
