NK Media Watch – July 24 to 30

Victory Day celebrations dominate, including "march for peace" coverage and solidarity with Cuba

After two weeks of extensive coverage of preparations for the 60th anniversary of the Fatherland Liberation War, the big day finally arrived on Saturday. As a result, domestic news was inundated with stories covering celebrations for the momentous event, meaning reports not dealing with related festivities were less frequent.

However, some stories did manage to steal headline space, including the commencement of an international peace march, continued coverage of the Kaesong negotiations, and Kim Jong Un’s congratulatory remarks to Raul Castro marking the 60th anniversary of Fidel Castro’s attack on the Moncada Barracks.
