Yoon Suk-yeol backs peace treaty and aid for North Korea if it denuclearizes

South Korean presidential candidate voices support for dialogue as he outlines defense and foreign policy pledges

South Korean presidential candidate Yoon Suk-yeol pledged to prepare for an inter-Korean “peace treaty” and economic aid if and when North Korea makes “active” efforts to denuclearize. 

The initiatives were part of 20 foreign policy and national security campaign pledges that Yoon, representing the conservative People Power Party, unveiled at a press conference on Monday in Seoul.
