North Korea’s “Day of the Sun” celebrations in Pyongyang continued into the evening on Saturday night with a mass dance in Kim Il Sung Square, the location of a huge military parade held earlier in the day.
As with the parade, the flights of steps overlooking the square were filled with Korean People’s Army (KPA) personnel and apparent foreign visitors or dignitaries. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un however, was not present.
The dance involved thousands of North Korean citizens, some in traditional Korean dress, who, for an hour, danced in a choreographed routine. A small stage was at the forefront of the event and held a band and a series of singers, with other sections of dancers, acrobats and performers in front.
The performance also involved fireworks and pyrotechnics, and was the final event of the day.
