North Korea launches ‘unidentified projectile’ toward East Sea: JCS

Japanese Coast Guard announces the suspected ballistic missile fell shortly after its launch

North Korea launched a suspected ballistic missile toward the East Sea (Sea of Japan) on Sunday afternoon, according to South Korean and Japanese authorities.

South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff reported shortly after 3 p.m. KST that Pyongyang launched an “unidentified projectile,” without providing additional details about the missile’s launch location or trajectory.

The Japanese Coast Guard also reported around 3:04 p.m. Sunday that the DPRK had launched a suspected ballistic missile.

Two minutes later, the agency reported that the missile already appeared to have fallen.
