North Korea tested strategic cruise missiles equipped with cluster warheads on Monday, according to state media, days after testing similar capabilities on short-range ballistic missiles (SRBMs). The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported Tuesday morning that the latest cruise missile test involved a “middle-sized dispersal warhead” that is “capable of turning into ashes a target area of 5 to 6 hectares with its highest-density power.” The SRBM test on Saturday reportedly involved a “Standard Type 2” cluster warhead capable of destroying an “area of 12 to 13 hectares.” KCNA did not mention the presence of leader Kim Jong Un, © Korea Risk Group.
