North Korean trash balloon lands inside South Korean presidential compound

ROK authorities say contents posed no danger after Pyongyang carries out 10th balloon barrage to date

A North Korean trash balloon landed inside the South Korean Presidential Office compound on Wednesday morning, raising alarm following the DPRK’s tenth balloon launch to date.

The Presidential Security Service told NK News that it identified the balloons inside the Yongsan compound in cooperation with the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS).

“An investigation by the chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear response (CBRN) team confirmed that the objects posed no danger or risk of contamination, and they have been collected,” the Presidential Security Service said, adding it will continue monitoring the situation. 

JCS announced at around 7:30 a.m. that presumed North
