North Korea tested a new type of nuclear-capable cruise missile called the “Pulhwasal-3-31,” according to state media on Thursday.

South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) previously announced it detected the test of “several cruise missiles” on North Korea’s west coast around 7 a.m. KST on Wednesday.

A brief three-line Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) report said the “strategic cruise missile” test was part of regular development and “had no impact on the security of neighboring countries and has nothing to do with the regional situation.”
