The redeployment of the USS Ronald Reagan is “very rare” and is meant to “strengthen the readiness posture of the ROK-U.S. alliance,” JCS said, while showing Pyongyang a “resolute will to firmly respond to any provocations or threats.” The nuclear-powered aircraft carrier previously visited the peninsula in late September for joint naval drills with South Korean and Japan. US aircraft carrier makes U-turn to peninsula after North Korean missile tests

A U.S. aircraft carrier that recently visited a South Korean port is returning to waters east of the Korean Peninsula just one day after a North Korean missile overflew Japan, Seoul’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) confirmed Wednesday.

The redeployment of the USS Ronald Reagan is “very rare” and is meant to “strengthen the readiness posture of the ROK-U.S. alliance,” JCS said, while showing Pyongyang a “resolute will to firmly respond to any provocations or threats.”
