North Korea tested a “relatively new” intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) system on Feb. 27 and March 5, a senior U.S. administration official said on Thursday, warning that the Treasury Department will take “actions” against North Korea in the coming days.

DPRK state media described those two tests as “reconnaissance satellite” system tests after a record seven missile launch events in January.

The system was originally unveiled during the Workers’ Party of Korea parade on Oct. 10, 2020, and again at a defense exhibition in Pyongyang last year, according to the official.
