A former U.S. marine who faces possible extradition to Spain said that he “staged” a 2019 raid at the North Korean Embassy in Madrid after its staff asked for help defecting, according to a new document filed in a California court on Monday. 

Christopher Ahn, who faces a slew of charges for what Spanish police describedas a violent robbery in Feb. 2019, denies tying up North Korean diplomats or carrying a weapon into the embassy as part of a mission staged by the group Free Joseon. He said that he only received instructions on the morning of the raid
