North Korea once again touts its national space program and satellite launches

Pyongyang is increasingly promoting its space sector, possibly hinting at another planned launch in the near future

North Korea is once again fervently promoting its aerospace industry. Over the weekend, state television aired a new program praising the country’s space program and satellite engineers — a move that shows North Korea’s growing comfort with publicizing its space industry developments.

Coverage of North Korea’s “satellite scientists” and propaganda slogans calling for the DPRK to become a “space power” largely disappeared from state media in 2018, when Pyongyang began a new round of negotiations with Seoul and Washington.
