An airport serving the Sino-DPRK border city of Dandong is set to reopen at the end of January following an eight-month closure, a travel industry source confirmed to NK News on Tuesday.

The airport, known in English as Dandong Langtao Airport (DDG), was first shut on May 20 last year for a “runway overhaul,” and was originally expected to reopen in November, according to an official notice released at the time.

But it will now restart services to Beijing, Shanghai, and other Chinese cities on January 30, Rowan Beard, a Dandong-based tour manager with Young Pioneer Tours (YPT), told NK
