North Korea’s embassy in Beijing is constructing a “hotel” for citizens visiting or working in China, sources told NK News this week, explaining construction observed in photos and satellite imagery over the past six months.

The development means visiting North Koreans will be allowed to use the new guesthouse for temporary accommodation, China-based sources said, though it is unclear if the emerging facility will operate on a commercial basis or not.

“The embassy is constructing a hotel within the embassy compounds that’ll only accommodate Koreans,” one of the sources said, requesting anonymity due to the sensitivity of speaking to media.
