North Korea formally deployed the Kang Kon naval destroyer at a ceremony on the east coast on Sunday, according to state media, where leader Kim Jong Un declared he wanted his enemies to be afraid of the new warship’s nuclear weapons.

The No. 52 Kang Kon is the DPRK’s second 5,000-ton Choe Hyon-class destroyer. The first was handed over to the West Sea Fleet in June, and construction on both ships appeared to start in 2024.
