North Korea launched a ballistic missile on Wednesday morning, according to the Japanese and South Korean defense ministries, in the second such missile test by Pyongyang in the last week.

The Japanese military alerted ships in the Sea of Japan, or East Sea in Korea, at around 6:03 a.m. KST about a launch, urging them to watch for falling objects. 

It released a message at 6:12 a.m. saying the missile was “believed to have already fallen,” suggesting a brief flight duration.
