North Korean leader Kim Jong Un oversaw a cruise missile test from the country’s newest destroyer on the west coast on Tuesday, according to state media, the second such test in the last week. The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported Wednesday that Kim executed the launch remotely in order to test command and control systems in wartime scenarios and prepare the ship’s crew for deployment to the navy soon. The test was also meant to demonstrate Pyongyang’s nuclear resolve, KCNA added.
