A top North Korean official described as Kim Jong Un’s right-hand man has been excluded from a key party leadership committee, according to NK News analysis of state media, part of a series of reshuffles that appears aimed at replacing veteran officials with younger cadres.

State media reported on Monday that the Ninth Party Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) elected 249 new full and alternate members of the Central Committee on its fourth day.

But the list does not include Choe Ryong Hae, chair of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People’s Assembly (SPA), North Korea’s parliament.
